The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has hosted a Forum Dedicated to Diaspora Day – "Diaspora for the Homeland: Tradition, Unity, Development"
On 27 May 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia hosted a forum dedicated to Diaspora Day under the theme: "Diaspora for the Homeland – Tradition, Unity, Development."
The event was officially opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Bochorishvili. Remarks were also delivered by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, the Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Diaspora and Caucasus Affairs, Irakli Zarkua.
As part of the forum, the winners of a competition announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were awarded. Certificates were also presented to teachers of Georgian Sunday schools abroad who successfully completed a professional development course.
In recognition of outstanding service in consular affairs and dedicated support to the needs of compatriots living abroad, Giorgi Tabatadze, Consul General of Georgia in Frankfurt am Main, was honored during the event.
The Forum dedicated to the Day of the Georgian Diaspora is held annually and aims to strengthen the ties and cooperation between the state and the diaspora, discuss existing challenges and opportunities, and enhance the role of diaspora representatives in the country’s development. Following the opening ceremony, a series of thematic panel discussions were held as part of the forum.
